Validation of TRMM data in the geographical regions of Brazil

ABSTRACT The low density of precipitation gauges, the areas difficult access and high number missing values hinder a rapid effective hydrological monitoring. Thus, present study aims to statistically validate estimates by data Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) in relation observed Conventional Meteorological Stations (CMSs) geographic regions Brazil. statistical indicators used were: Correlation Coefficient (r), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Percentage Bias (Pbias), T-Test Mann-Witiney Test. It is concluded that estimated via TRMM are reliable alternatives for studies do not have in-situ gauges and/or need fill five country, especially driest months larger time scales.
